SocialSource 2005 to take place

SocialSource gear-up for organising SocialSource 2005, to be supported by the ICTHub [http://wwww.ictconsortium.org.uk]. Contact made with participants from previous year, as well as new speakers. Programme organised. Venue secured by assistance of LASA [http://www.lasa.org.uk], partners in the ICTHub [http://wwww.ictconsortium.org.uk].

Mid-Late September 2004

Updates and revisions to wiki to reflect suggestions made at the event. Created pages for event documentation, and expanded Resources page to a whole section

15 September 2004

Inaugural event takes place: ~50 attendees come to listen to the ~20 programmed items; plenty of discussion & networking on the day. Event is commended particularly for its atmosphere and community feel.

Venue
- >20 venues across London contacted for the day. Candidate venues sourced via personal contacts and using venues search facility on Actionlink [http://www.actionlink.org.uk]. Some unavailable, many with no internet access
- City Temple Conference Centre chosen - within budget, recently had Wifi installed

Social Software [http://www.socialsoftware.org] grouping of people interested in Voluntary & Community Sector applications of Open Source
Core group of volunteers coalescing with a view of taking OSS agenda forward for the VCS - OSS profile rising in general, more mainstream orgs becoming interested.
