Sept 04 - Sept 05 Occasional email updates. New jobs, babies...
Mid-Late September 2004
- Updates and revisions to wiki to reflect suggestions made at the event. Created pages for event documentation, and expanded Resources page to a whole section
15 September 2004
- Inaugural event takes place: ~50 attendees come to listen to the ~20 programmed items; plenty of discussion & networking on the day. Event is commended particularly for its atmosphere and community feel.
Early September 2004
- Finalising of programme
- Ongoing networking with stakeholders to raise awareness of event's aims and activities
August 2004
- Ongoing work attracting attendees & speakers
- Working group visits event to look at best use of space
- initial mail circulated to ~10 email distribution lists to spread word of the event
July 2004
- Working Group of volunteers formed in order to organise September event. Meeting held to decide on aims, target audience, next steps
- Wiki set up in order to publicise activities and update progress
- Venue
- >20 venues across London contacted for the day. Candidate venues sourced via personal contacts and using venues search facility on Actionlink [http://www.actionlink.org.uk]. Some unavailable, many with no internet access
- City Temple Conference Centre chosen - within budget, recently had Wifi installed
- Contact form and feedback address added to wiki
Before July 2004
- Social Software [http://www.socialsoftware.org] grouping of people interested in Voluntary & Community Sector applications of Open Source
- Core group of volunteers coalescing with a view of taking OSS agenda forward for the VCS - OSS profile rising in general, more mainstream orgs becoming interested.
