OSS "Try-outs":
- The Open CD http://theopencd.sunsite.dk/ OSS programs for use on machines running Windows (e.g. Open Office, the GIMP...)
- "Live CDs" - boot into an OSS operating system and environment straight from a CD - nothing to install, no changes to make to your system. There are numerous examples of distributions packaged like this for a CD.

- Samba http://www.samba.org - Samba is an Open Source/Free Software suite that provides seamless file and print services to SMB/CIFS clients ( Samba is software that can be run on a non-Windows platform. Samba uses the TCP/IP protocol that is installed on the host server. When correctly configured, it allows that host to interact with a Microsoft Windows client or server as if it is a Windows file and print server.
